For Rick's name to appear on the ballot February 21, we must submit to the City Election Commission nomination petitions bearing the signatures of at least 1,500 city residents. Click here to download a petition form. We need to have the petitions in hand by January 2. A few tips for gathering signatures: Any adult citizen may circulate petitions. (It is no longer necessary to live in the City of Milwaukee to circulate.) Those who sign must be Those who sign are not endorsing Rick nor pledging to vote for him. They are simply supporting his right to be a candidate...period. Many people feel uncomfortable being the first person to sign. So, it would be a very good idea for you and whoever you feel are most likely to sign, to sign first, so there are a couple of signatures on the sheet before you start circulating "in public." You'll find it much easier to get started that way. You must watch with your own eyes as they sign. It is not legal to just leave the clipboard laying around somewhere. Circulators must sign the bottom section, in which they affirm that they personally obtained every signature on the sheet. If the signer has a physical problem writing, you may help them by filling out the boxes for their address and the date. (The "municipality" is ALWAYS city of Milwaukee.)
